Essay question

How has access to digital media technology changed the way in which the audience consumes media?
Access media refers to how audio visual media content can be used, read or viewed by audience. Throughout the years, technology has expanded to this point where audiences no longer use technology in the same way as in the early days.
Digital media has much changed the way that we consume the online news and TV broadcasting. E.g. online news (such as E-book, daily mail, the guardian) is when the audience reads the newsletter online whenever and wherever they want. Not only that it is convenient for audiences to choose whenever and where ever to used it, it is also convenient because it is free. Audiences are able to read the news on their devices which means that they can carry it around everywhere even aboard as long as there have internet they can read the news online.  Free online news takes all the audiences from the producers of newspaper, so now they try to gain their audience back which becomes a competition between them two publisher.
However TV broadcasting has also been affected by access to digital media. New technology, such as 3D TV and HD TV, has made TV viewing a more cinematic experience for audiences as the content is now of a higher and better quality them others. With TV broadcasting now you can catch up on series, films or TV shows that u missed. You can catch up on them by using catch-up services such a BBC iPlayer, ITV player, demand 5 and many others. It allows the audiences to watch TV in their own time.  Also the platform Sky+ allows the audience to record TV.
On the other hand it has changed the way in which audience consume media because now days you can used technology for many things such as clock, calendar, calculator etc. so now you wouldn’t need any of these technological convergence in three-dimensions as in real because you will have it all on your devices.

Overall access to digital media technology changed the way in which the audience consumes media in both ways news and TV broadcasting. Those two industry are now more used by the audience has they can choose when, where and how to consume them anytime.  Producers of the news are also a disadvantage as free news means that the audiences are less likely to buy as much for newspapers. This also leads to the fact that journalists have less of a job because they won’t right much newspaper anymore as it is all done online.
